Three Tigers Brewing Co. is hosting a bottle release and sale at 1:30pm Sunday, January 26, at their Granville, Ohio brew pub with limited-edition 22oz bottles of Big Fish, an Apple Brandy Barrel-Aged Moroccan Truffle Stout (12% ABV 40 IBU). Proceeds from the bottle sales will help establish the Patrick Gangwer Brewers Apprentice Scholarship Fund. The long-term objective of the fund is to provide financial assistance to young men and women in Ohio entering brewery apprentice programs. $35 donation per bottle, limit two (2) per person.
Monday, January 27, 2020 also marks the birthday of Patrick who passed away in the Spring of last year after a battle with cancer. Last January Patrick had loaded a 53-gallon apple brandy barrel with his Moroccan Truffle Stout. The release of Big Fish is the last of Patrick’s beer releases. The name Big Fish was inspired in part by Patrick’s love of movies and from the 2003 Tim Burton movie of the same name. In the movie, a son’s fantastical search for the truth behind his father’s larger-than-life stories reveals the grandness of the man and the powerful impact he had on the people he touched. Like Big Fish, Patrick’s life was full of extraordinary journeys and remarkable connections. Big Fish is a fitting name for a beer honoring a man larger than life.
